For nearly 125 years, The Municipal Art Society of New York has worked to educate and inspire New

Summary of Position

MAS seeks a full-time Public Programs Associate to support the seamless planning, production, and

execution of all MAS public engagements. The MAS calendar offers events of all scales, from panels and

award ceremonies, to cultivation events and signature events like the MAS Summit for New York City

and Jane’s Walk NYC. The successful candidate will have prior programming, development or event

production experience and a demonstrated interest in the advocacy work of MAS. This position is a

unique opportunity to develop production and management skills, while engaging with a wide range of

audiences and initiatives within the architecture, urban planning, design, and preservation fields. It

requires a high attention to detail, keen ability to multi-task, and strong inclination towards a

collaborative approach.

Qualifications and Values

• Bachelor's degree required, event management experience preferred

• Outstanding writing skills, verbal communication, and presentation skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, required

• Proficiency Adobe products, including Photoshop and InDesign, preferred

• Ability to work both independently and within a team context

• Detail-oriented, organized, and resourceful

• Dedication to the ideals of a more equitable, resilient, and vibrant New York City

• Interest in planning and preservation issues

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and always eager to learn


Under the guidance of the Director of Public Programs, the Associate will:

• Assist with all event production elements, including but not limited to venue and vendor

selection, budget maintenance, timelines and schedules, and on-site logistics

• Support program development by serving as primary participant point of contact on logistics

leading up to event

• Build departmental capacity and efficiency by maintaining clear archival information on all


• Collaborate with the communications team on registration pages, content for digital outreach,

and production of printed and mailed collateral

• Support outreach efforts for events, serving to increase participation and visibility

• Assist in administration of MAS awards, including nomination process, serving as point person

for juries and nominees, and preparing for meetings

• Opportunity to grow into lead role in select public programs in partnership with Director
