Programs and Events Marketing Manager

As a member of APA's marketing team, the programs and events marketing manager will be responsible for driving marketing planning initiatives from conception through completion in order to achieve organizational goals related to APA's varied programs, products, and events. Those include, but are not limited to, the promotional campaigns for APA's National Planning Conference, Policy and Advocacy Conference, education programs, research products, and periodical subscriptions.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Partner with marketing staff, internal clients, communications teams, and other internal or external stakeholders to develop creative, impactful marketing strategies that achieve organizational goals for programs and events
  • Build approved marketing strategies into comprehensive marketing plans, including applicable timelines and measurements of success
  • Monitor and report results of marketing efforts in a timely manner to appropriate decision makers, and adjust tactics based on performance
  • Implement appropriate aspects of marketing plans across all channels by effectively managing scope, schedule and budget. Develop collateral materials including writing strong promotional copy.
  • Provide direction to content marketing coordinator and cross-departmental content team to create and curate content for various channels in order to support inbound marketing strategies and generate leads
  • Develop strategies for supporting centralized marketing efforts for APA's chapters and divisions
  • Actively participate in and lead cross-departmental project teams as needed
  • Research and apply marketing best practices and identify opportunities for continued professional development
  • Provide creative guidance and manage relationships with graphic designers and other vendors, ensuring adherence to APA brand guidelines, achievement of project goals and quality standards, and timely completion of deliverables
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications (Education and Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in marketing or communications required; experience working with professional associations preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with a track record of successfully collaborating with all stakeholders
  • Must be organized, goal-oriented and have a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written, verbal and analytical communication skills
  • History of providing outstanding customer service to stakeholders
  • Highly developed skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Experience with automated marketing systems, web content management systems, Google analytics, search engine optimization preferred
