The Senior Manager, Business Development and Sponsorship is responsible for identifying, cultivating and soliciting corporate and foundation gifts for sponsorship of CAC exhibits, programs and initiatives, managing all aspects of the organization’s Industry Council program, and building long-term collaborative partnerships between CAC and the business and non-profit communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Sponsorship/Business Development

  • With Director of Corporate and Institutional Relations, establish annual corporate sponsorship and membership revenue goals based on institutional plans and fundraising landscape; provide monthly report on progress toward achieving goals
  • Research and identify new business opportunities and take the lead on making introductions for the President-CEO and other key leadership
  • Work closely with CAC leadership, trustees and the Senior Curator to develop and solicit sponsorship opportunities for gallery exhibits, education, public programs, gala and other major CAC initiatives
  • Organize and participate in site visits with prospective corporate sponsors and partners; prepare pre-meeting briefs for President & CEO and/or the Vice President of Development
  • Responsible for drafting sponsorship proposals and agreements; negotiate and execute sponsorship packages; oversee appropriate donor recognition
  • Work with the Development team to produce timely acknowledgement letters, reports and other written materials as necessary

Corporate Relations/Industry Council

  • Oversee Industry Council membership program; including monthly renewals, planning leadership events as well as the identification, cultivation, solicitation of new members
  • Maintain and update corporate contacts in data base
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop communications for the corporate/foundation community such as website, e-news, and accurate recognition of corporate donors in CAC publications and materials.
  • Plan and manage Quarterly Industry Council Leadership Events as well as other CAC corporate events as appropriate
  • Work with Education team to identify and solicit summer internship opportunities for teens

External Relations

  • Serve as representative of CAC at external events as necessary
  • Represent CAC in professional associations and conferences
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry trends, publications and events in architecture, engineering, construction and building fields


  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree or fundraising certificate preferred
  • Five to seven years of fundraising or business development experience
  • Successful sponsorship management a bonus, but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of built environment industry a plus, but not mandatory
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills, with great attention to detail and adherence to deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Windows applications, including Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Proficiency with fundraising or sales databases; Tessitura helpful
