AAO Network Meetings

Over the coming weeks, the AAO team will be focusing more closely on the topics of digital programming and online content. Upcoming meetings are listed below, and we strongly encourage that a representative or two from your organization participate. These are support groups, if you will, in what will likely become a series of regularly scheduled info exchanges and general check-ins.

Fall has arrived and that means planning for 2021 will be just around the corner. At this check-in meeting, hear from fellow design educators about the major activities they think will form the basis of their respective organizations’ programming in the first half of the next year. If budget restraints will force you to focus on only your program’s most core deliverables, what are they and why? Also, if your work is fueled by major funding partners, please explain what outcomes they are looking for and any adjustments (staffing or content delivery) you may need to keep meeting the expected goals. Please come prepared to share any plans you are developing (no matter how rough or evolving), as well as budgeting and program delivery questions you may wish to discuss with the group. As always, this is a great opportunity to swap stories and strategies with your peers.

This fall, architecture organizations will be setting their 2021 budgets, and most of us will be projecting significant cuts that will affect programming, fundraising, and other essential functions. How will you make necessary financial projections without a good precedent of what might be possible or expected in the coming year? Where will you choose to prioritize the precious resources you do have?

We invite top leaders and CEOs of AAO member organizations to join us for this peer "check-in" to discuss the unique challenges of scenario planning during the COVID-era. Please come prepared to share high-level budgeting and staffing questions you may have, as well as the latest thinking that might guide your forecasting for the upcoming year. If there are any special initiatives you've been able to fund despite these uncertain financial times, those success stories would be welcome, too. We'd also be interested in hearing about any plans for reopening your Centers or in-person programming in the coming months.
